Women too modest to host Have I Got News For You, Hislop claims

BBC show’s team captains say low number of guest slots given to female politicians is because they refuse to appear

The dearth of female politicians appearing as guest hosts of Have I Got News For You is not for want of trying, the show’s team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop have claimed.

The BBC panel show has been presented by 11 politicians in its 28-year history, but just one – Ann Widdecombe – was a woman.
