MQM-P leader gunned down in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A local leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan [MQM-P] was shot dead by unidentified assailants early Wednesday morning in Hyderabad.

Dr Naushad Aijaz, a close aide of MQM-P leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, was returning home after dropping his children at school when unidentified assailants on a motorbike opened fired at him near his house on Hali Road.

The 45-year-old veterinary doctor suffered three gunshot wounds in the chest and face and was rushed to Liaquat University Hospital where the doctors proclaimed him dead.

Local elected representations and leaders of the party also reached the hospital.

While no FIR was officially lodged yet, police officials have not determined the reason behind the killing.
