Mahesh Bhatt lauds Pakistani remake of ‘Arth’, goes gaga over Humaima and Shaan
Shaan Shahid and Humaima Malick’s rendition of Mahesh Bhatt’s drama film Arth is certainly a first.
The Pakistani remake, titled Arth – The Destination, has been one of the most awaited movies yet to be released this year. The trailer of the movie garnered a positive response from audiences and critics alike.

Now, the original director of the movie has lauded the performances of the protagonists in the movie and took to Twitter to sing praises for Humaima and Shaan.

The Murder director wrote, “A stunning looking film shot with passion.Thank u @mshaanshahid for bringing the film that hurled me into history to a whole new audience.”
Mahesh then complimented Humaima for her spark and power-packed performance.
To which, Humaima responded, “Shukriya these words of yours are my win.”
The remake is a contemporary retelling of the original story and will be set in Lahore. The idea materialised into a film after Shaan met Mahesh Bhatt in 2015 and expressed his desire to remake the film for Pakistani audiences.
“Arth is the first film with the DNA of an Indian story to be set in Pakistan. If we want to strengthen film trade between our countries, Arth’s model is a great way of collaborating,” Shaan previously said.

Shaan means business with ‘Arth 2’
Bhatt said that he had no objection to the idea. “When Shaan expressed the desire to revisit Arth, I had no objection. The story has endured the passage of time and is available in public domain. Shaan wanted to use my story and present it as a local, indigenous narrative that suited his country’s palate. I’m not aware of what he has done. Every film-maker has his own worldview and the freedom to reinterpret a story the way he wishes.”
