ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday emphasised the need to promote tourism to present Pakistan’s positive image.

Speaking at Pakistan Tourism Summit in Islamabad, he said Pakistan is a beautiful country and an attractive tourism destination.

The minister said the new government’s assuming power added to the country’s dignity world over. He, however, lamented that people had stopped visiting Pakistan owing to negative media coverage of the country.

Pakistan faced different challenges in the 70s and 80s, he said.

Regional conflicts also damaged the tourism sector, Chaudhry said, calling for showing the country in the best possible light. He assured that Pakistan has a bright future ahead.

Lately, the federal cabinet named Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfikar Bukhari as an acting chairman of a 25-member National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB).
