ISLAMABAD: A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea against sentence awarded to him in Al Azizia reference by the accountability court on Tuesday (today), ARY News reported.

The accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik on Dec 24 had sentenced Sharif to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia reference case.

Yesterday, Sharif through his counsel had filed a plea to seek exemption from tomorrow’s (today’s) court appearance on his health ground.

“Sharif is ill cannot appear before the court tomorrow”, the plea read.

It is requested that the writ petition be fixed at an early date.”

He further said that transparent trial was the right of every Pakistani.

The registrar office of the IHC had accepted the petition field by Sharif’s lawyer.
