Volatility returns to markets as fresh US tariffs loom

​30-share BSE Sensex opened at 38,027.81, down about 60 points at the opening bell​​, but soon extended its losses to more than 250 points. At 9.24 am, the gauge was down 278.47 points at 37,812.17. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty too was 0.75 per cent and had slipped under the 11,450-mark.
