Last day to submit Presidential nomination papers

ISLAMABAD: Deadline to submit the nomination papers for the upcoming presidential elections falls today (Monday).

The candidates were asked by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to file their nomination papers with presiding officers in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta till 12 noon of 27th August. 

A thorough scrutiny of the nomination papers will be conducted by the ECP on Wednesday in Islamabad. 

The deadline to withdraw nomination papers is set for Thursday, August 30 after which the final list will be made public on the same day.

Polling for the presidential election will be held on September 4th.

How the elections are conducted

The president of the State is elected through an electoral college which includes members of Senate, National Assembly, and the four provincial assemblies.

The voting is conducted through a secret ballot process.
