Sindh, KP assemblies will complete terms tonight

KARACHI: Second time in a row, the assemblies completing their mandated tenure in Pakistan pointing out to the stability of political system in Pakistan.

The provincial assemblies of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces completing their constitutional tenure at midnight on Monday (today). The two assemblies will stand dissolved at 12:00 a.m. tonight.

The provincial cabinet will also seize to exist along with the dissolution of the assembly. The cabinet members will attend the last session today and then will attend an Iftar dinner being hosted by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The chief minister will keep holding the post till an interim chief minister takes charge.

Several provincial ministers have already vacated their offices as the assembly reaches to completion of its term. The remaining ministers will empty their offices today. According to reports, the ministers who have already vacated their offices are Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Manzoor Wassan, Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and Culture Minister Sardar Ali Shah.

While Dr Sikandar Shoro, Shamim Mumtaz, Mumtaz Hussain Jakhrani, Fayyaz Butt, Mukesh Kumar Chawala and Imdad Pitafi will vacate their offices today.

The cabinet members will attend today’s last session and then will attend an iftar dinner being hosted by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who will keep holding the post till an interim chief minister takes charge.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will also cease to exist tonight after its last session today. The assembly before reaching to completion of its tenure, passed the landmark legislation about the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with KP in its last session.

The National Assembly will complete its mandated tenure on May31, while the provincial assemblies of Punjab and Sindh will also complete their tenures on the same date.
