Seven die as passenger bus collides with van near Sehwan

At least seven people died and several others injured when a passenger bus rammed into a van in the outskirts of Sindh’s Sehwan town on Wednesday.

According to Express News, the accident took place due to over speeding at the Indus Highway in Lucky Shah Sadar area near Sehwan, known for the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Rescue officials shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Sources said the passenger coach likely crashed into the van that was coming from the opposite direction. However, the nature of the accident and exact number of passengers in both vehicles is yet to be confirmed.

The 136-kilometre-long single track of Indus Highway between Jamshoro and Sehwan towns, with its several sharp curves, witnesses frequent accidents. Several times, the district administration has requested the deployment of the motorway police to regulate the traffic.
