Sensex gains above 300 points, markets soar ahead of inflation numbers

The markets opened on a positive footing, after plunging almost 100 points. However, since mid-day trading the indices erased the losses and surged in the last hour to finish on a high note ahead of inflation numbers, which are slated to come later in the day.
