Discovery of a lifetime: Neutron stars crash seen

Scientists working on different global projects have found conclusive evidence that short gamma ray bursts, often seen by orbiting satellites, are indeed created by colliding neutron stars, something that had only been speculated for decades. Joint observations have also given them an independent way of measuring the expansion rate of the universe.
