Team GB’s Ben Maher soars to Olympic showjumping gold

• Maher retains title won by GB’s Nick Skelton in Rio in 2016
• Swedish rider Peder Fredicson won silver

Great Britain’s Ben Maher produced a brilliant flying round to secure showjumping gold on Explosion W in a jump-off.

An astonishingly quick round by Maher and Explosion, which saw them finish the course in 37.85 seconds pipped Swedish rider Peder Fredricson to the top spot.
